A very old discussion...

I remember you talking about these issues already a long time ago.

I'll try to explain how I look at these questions.

I have been both a performance-artist AND a photographer of performance.

Talking as a performance-artist I can say, that I prefer other performance-artists to take the photos of my performance. They take better photos than photographers do. Probably they feel the medium better. Also they know better, what's their place in the whole thing. And never come up with boring stories about copyright.

Talking as a photographer I can say, that, whenever I take photos of other artist's performances, I try to make the right photos on the right moments. Also I try to be as invisible as I can. The artist can have copies of the film at all times. Copyright?? Could it be, that the copyright is for the artist?

I hope next time you have a better question!

For your exhibition I have plenty of black&white photos of photographers taking pictures of performances, the so- called "Photographer's Performance Series".

Also I have lots of slides, that I took from other artist's performances!
